Foreign Language Education In Kindergarten

Foreign language education in kindergarten is a contraversial issue in these days.Some people think that it is unnecessary in early childhood while some think that it helps them improve their second language easier.Early language education is advantageous in terms of developing better, learning the culture, planning their future.


Firstly and the most importantly,the earlier children exposed to a foreign language, the more they develope in that language. Because children have more ability to acquire a language when compared to adults. Therefore, when they start to learn a second language in kindergarten, they develop a higher level of language proficiency than who start later. A recent European language policy document states that it is a priority to ensure effective language learning in the kindergarten and primary school, as in such programs “attitudes towards other languages and cultures are formed, and the foundations for later language learning are laid” (Commission of the European Communities, 2003, p. 7).

Secondly, learning a language doesn't only mean learning words or sentence structure of that language, it is also acquiring the culture of it. When both go together, a language can be acquired completely. If a child is exposed to language earlier, s/he gets better in its culture and it help them learn it easier.

Thirdly, the earlier a child learns a second language, the better s/he plans the future. If s/he has a special ability to learn languages or s/he doesn't like it, s/he plan their future according to it. Of course kindergarten is very early period to plan your future;however,your parents can do it on behalf you and it helps you plan as you are growing.
As a conclusion, foreign language education in kindergarten is necessary in terms of all these issues. The earlier a child is exposed to foreing language, the better s/he develops.

Internet

Internet is a contraversial issue in these days all over the world. People discuss its advantages and disadvantages while componies like Microsoft are competing among each other in order to make the biggest profit. Internet, besides its positive effects, has and seems to be going to have more negative effects in terms of social life, time and private life.
First, internet affects our social life negatively because it makes us stay alone and not talk to anybody for hours except from chatting with people on the net. However, nothing can be better than talking to people face to face in order to socialize. When you are face to face to people, the conversation is more candid. Therefore, people should prefer face to face conversation instead of chatting.
Second, internet takes to much time. When we are on the net, we don’t understand how the time passes. We postpone our other works then it gets harder to do them later. When companies make their service better and offer better facilities, people get more addictive to it and spend more time on it.
Third and the most important, it will most probably disturb our private life. In order to improve their service, companies will need more personal information. When our personal information is on the net, it is very dangerous for our security. For example, it will be easier for criminals to reach our personal information. They can reach our bank account, credit card numbers using the information on the net easily. That can cost us much.
Consequently, although it sounds good that companies will improve their service and offer new facilities to us on the net, we should think of the disadvantages of it and be careful about it

Internet, besides its positive effects, has and seems to be going to have more negative effects in terms of social life, time and private life.

Second Life

There are lots of social networks that connects people from all over the world. One of these networks is Second Life which is like a kind of computer game in which people from all over the world comunicate each other through instant messages. People's using Second Life can be mainly categorized in three subtitle: education, bussiness, and chatting.

The most common reason for people's using Second Life is education. Especially university students use it for educational reasons. For example, we use it in our writing class. We talk to each other or to other people using it on different topics in order to improve our writing ability.

Some people use Second Life just for fun and chatting. Maybe this is the primary aim of it, I'm not sure. There are lots of people using it and it is a great possibility to meet and chat with them.

Bussiness has the smallest percentage in people's reasons for using Second Life but there are poeple who use it for bussiness. They can meet other people who do the same jobs and they can share their ideas about their bussiness.

To sum up, no matter for which reason people use it, education, chatting or bussiness, it is an enjoyable and effective time passing activity. Anybody who have a computer and access to internet can use it easily.

Writing Classes

Writing classes are the ones we learn how to write paragraphs and essays and how to use language effectively.It is important which techniques the teachers use while giving the lecture.They can use different materials like computer, internet or pen and paper. Using technology and using pen and paper in class have dissimilarities in terms of time, publishing and creativity.

First, using technological devices in class is effective in using time. When we have computer, we can do the tasks and homework very quickly so we can have time to do something enjoyable in the class. Moreover, we have the chance to change anything wrong. On the other hand, when we use pen and pencil, it takes more time to write and we cannot change anything on the paper after we give it to the teacher.

Second, if a teacher uses computer and give the lecture in a computer lab, everyone can publish what they write so the students have access to read what their friends write and evaluate them. On the contrary, in a pen and paper class, only the teacher read and evaluate the papers.

Finally, the material that the teacher use in the class affects creativity. In my personal opinion while writing with pen and paper, people are more creative than writing on computer. My mind is working more actively when I have a pen in my hand. On the computer I cannot concentrate on the topic so I prefer writing an outline on a paper first and then on the computer.

To sum up, if I have to choose one of these classes, I would choose the one with technological devices, because it has more advantages in terms of time and publishing and the problem with creativity can be overcome by writing an outline on a paper first.

First Impression

First impression is the most effective way of understanding what kind of personality a person has.Some people really trust their first impression and so do I.I have never been mistaken in my judgement of people by the first impression.The criteria I use to decide on people's personality are body language,the way of talking and the way of wearing.

The most important criterion is body language.It gives the most reliable information about someone.How?For example, if someone is looking into your eyes while talking, s/he is a trustworthy person and don't tell lies.The gap between s/he and me shows his understanding of closeness in friendship relations.Moreover if s/he smiles a little or touch you with hands sometimes,this means that s/he is a sincere person.If these are aggravated,it shows that those are artificial behaviours.

The way of talking is also important in someone's personality.For example, the level of voice shows if s/he is a self-confidence or a shy person.The structure of sentences or even the words choosen give clues about personality.If s/he is talking a little bit seriously,this means that s/he doesn't trust people easily.If a person has a local accent and doesn't try to change it, this shows he is a sincere and natural one.

The way of wearing sometimes implies some characteristics of people.For example,we can infer generally what kind of music s/he is listening.If someone wear dark clothes and has black hair,s/he most probably listens rock or metal music and is a disobedient one.

Consequently,these are the criteria I use while judging people by the first impression and I think all these are the correct ones because I have never failed until today.

Me in Details

Everyone has some little but interesting specific features that many people don't know.I have also several 'interesting' things that are really absurd for me such as never wearing something that fell on floor without washing it, never being able to touch a baby until it is four or five months and never going out without something that is always with me.

I can never wear a cloth when it falls on the floor no matter it is dormitory or outside.I think the floor is dirty because we walk on it with our shoes.Also it is not cleaned completely when it is shaked.It has to be washed off then I can wear it.If I wear because I have to,I take a shower immediately.

I can never touch a baby until is three or four months old.They are so little that only their mother should touch them.They are so fragile and I think if I touch or hold in my arms,I will hurt them.This was the case for my sister and brother.Maybe the first child I touch even on the first day will be my own child.

I never go out without something that is always with me.It can be something like a necklace,a bracelet or a nazar boncugu.It seems like a superstition but I feel comfortable when it is with me.I think something bad will happen without it and it really happens sometimes.These days it is the necklace my mum gave me.

The interesting things make people different from others so we know them better when we learn the characteristics.They can be absurd but these are the specifics of us.
